…..come and see history working
Burleigh is the last working Victorian factory in England. Specialising in transfer printed ceramics, we are also one of the very few potteries still manufacturing a pure English product. Our canal side factory at Middleport is described in Arnold Bennett’s classic novel “Anna of the Five Towns” and still retains an air of the industrial revolution.
This year when the BBC Antiques Roadshow was filmed here, Michael Aspel said, “I think this is the most extraordinary place I have been to in a long, long time”.
Why not come and see for yourself? Visitors and tour groups are now able to see all the processes from the mixing of the raw clay to the decorating of the ware by our skilled workers, using the 200 year old hand decorating method. We still use some 19th century machinery in this atmospheric Grade 2 * Listed building and we are sure you will take away wonderful memories.
