Our e-commerce manager Emma loves gathering friends and family around the bbq, so wanted to share her tips for enjoying a Father's Day bbq feast.
This Father’s Day, celebrate with a simple yet flavourful outdoor lunch featuring flame-grilled lamb chops, charred sweetcorn, and a refreshing watermelon, feta, and mint salad – all served on our Burleigh Ink Blue Hibiscus and Pollen collections for a beautifully set table.
My hubby is South African so he loves a Braai (BBQ in Afrikaans), any excuse to be outside enjoying a beer and the occasional ray of British sunshine. Our favourite meal on the braai is lamb chops with a watermelon salad, its super quick to make and very tasty, the freshness of the watermelon cuts through the fattiness of the lamb meat for a perfect balance of flavours.
We kicked off the day with a refreshing mimosa and served olives as nibbles, while the braai coals got to temperature.
Flavour on the Fire
Lamb chops are a firm Father’s Day favourite – quick to cook and so rich and juicy. Marinate with olive oil, garlic, rosemary, chilli flakes (for those who like it with a bit of a bite) and lime for extra depth, then grill until perfectly caramelised.
For an simple side, sweetcorn on the cob is hard to beat. We boil ours for a few minutes before grilling to make them extra juicy. Grill until golden and lightly charred, then brush with butter and sea salt. So sweet, smoky, and made for summer eating.
A Salad That Shines
Complement the bold lamb flavours with something fresh and light. Our go-to: a vibrant watermelon, feta, mint and red onion salad, finished with a generous drizzle of balsamic glaze. Juicy, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, it’s a vibrant addition to your Father’s Day table. This salad is so simple to make - roughly chop the watermelon flesh, break up the feta, pick mint leaves from the stalk and rip them into small pieces and finely chop the red onion. Mix it all together with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of rock salt and cracked black pepper corns. Finish with balsamic glaze and serve.
Serve in Style
Bold dishes deserve a beautiful setting. We’ve paired the deep, hand-finished florals of Ink Blue Hibiscus with the complementary Ink Blue Pollen to create a table that feels celebratory and considered. The inky blue ceramics bring rich contrast to grilled meats and summer produce.
