Traditionally, we are a little early for the 12 Days of Christmas, but this year we thought we would mix it up a little. We wanted to bring to you 12 Days of Loose Leaf Tea, so we got in touch with the experts at Rare Tea.
Rare Tea Company is an independent company based in London. The company was founded in 2004, by Henrietta Lovell (known as the Tea Lady), to source and supply the world's best tea - direct from farmers and their tea gardens. From humble beginnings with just a handful of devoted customers, Rare now collaborates with many of the world's finest chefs, restaurants, bars and hotels, and of course the best in teaware, Burleigh. Jack of Rare Tea comments, ‘beautiful loose leaf tea, crafted by skilled men and women deserves an equally brilliant teapot. Burleigh Teaware, expertly made at Middleport Pottery is a wonderful choice’.
So, what do you need to create the perfect cup of tea?
To start with, you will need a teapot, your favourite teacup and saucer, the tea, milk and sugar if required, and some boiling water. Here we have chosen our Classic Blue Asiatic Pheasants collection. Each of our teapots are made to create the ‘perfect pour’, making them a natural fit for Rare Tea!
If you’re making tea for two, start by adding 2 heaped teaspoons of tea to your teapot (or 2.5g per 150ml cup), then add 300ml of water. If you’re drinking a black tea with milk, boiling water is great. If you’re drinking a white or green tea, we recommend letting the boiled water cool for 5 minutes (to around 70-80°). Then infuse for 1-2 minutes dependent on taste.
Now it is time to pick up your tea strainer, and serve evenly between teacups and be sure to pour out every last drop. This will leave your leaves dry, ready for their next infusion.
Now all that is left to do is enjoy…
This festive season we want to help you all enjoy those moments with a warming cup of tea. Whether that be a Rooiboos with deep and earth notes, or a traditional Earl Grey, head over to our Instagram page to see how you can win a prize from Burleigh and Rare everyday from 1st – 12th December , 2020!
