Deck the Halls with Burleigh this Christmas

Twinkling lights bound around bannisters, the enveloping warmth of the hearth after a brisk, wintry walk, and a dining table laden with festive delights are just some of the joys of Christmas ripe for anticipation this year.

More than ever, we’re ready to celebrate the quiet charms of the festive season, taking things back to basics with loved ones, gathered together at last. Imbue your home with a taste of tradition, elevating each of the 12 days of Christmas and beyond with our new Green Regal Peacock dinnerware and hand crafted decorations.

At Burleigh, we believe each Christmas decoration on your tree or around your mantlepiece should tell a story. Lovingly collected over time, each trinket steeped in memory, to be adored for generations to come.

There is no more festive a feeling than retrieving the box of Christmas decorations, unfurling the nest of newsprint and setting to work, decking the halls. This year, our ceramic Christmas decorations feature our iconic Regal Peacock design in hues of Blue, Burgundy and Green. This trio of colours, complete with their copper ribbon loops, is gratifyingly festive, the perfect accompaniment to any longstanding collection.

In our archives sit sketches attributed to Charles Wilkes who was responsible for new shape design at Burgess and Leigh. He started in the design studio in 1889 and worked with us until he retired in 1943. He was a highly skilled modeller and prolific shape designer. As far as we are aware, the shape selected for inspiration was never made. We have used these elements of our history for inspiration to celebrate our 170th anniversary and developed a keepsake ornament. Celebrate in regal style this Christmas with these Modeller's decorations in tones of Blue, Burgundy and Green.

Kiln rings are traditionally placed onto each kiln before a firing as they shrink at a uniform rate when exposed to extreme heat. They are measured afterwards to ensure that the temperature is consistent. Although essential, these are waste products once fired.

Perfectly paired with off-cut tissue that would otherwise be discarded, we are excited to allow you to take a piece of our factory home; giving elements of our process a new lease of life and being mindful of our carbon footprint. Shop our collection of Kiln Rings and take a piece of our history home with you, available in shades of Blue, Burgundy and Green, and each gift-boxed to make the perfect gift this festive season and beyond.

Complete your festive ambience with our new Green Regal Peacock. First introduced in 1913, our Regal Peacock design was presented to King George V and Queen Mary by Burgess & Leigh on their royal visit to the Potteries. A century later in 2013, a refreshed copper engraving was produced, restoring Regal Peacock’s rightful place in Burleigh’s range, and in 2021 the pattern remains a firm favourite. It is a fitting end to our 170th anniversary year to reimagine this iconic pattern in a deep, bottle green; a contemporary update to a time-honoured design.
